Pregnancy and breast feeding
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for the development of the nervous system of the foetus and infant. Moreover, women whose intake of DHA during pregnancy is low, run a higher risk of developing postnatal depression. A panel of specialists that collaborates with the American nutritionist Dr. Artemis Simopoulos (a specialist in omega-3 fatty acids) advises pregnant women and women who breastfeed to take 2.22 g alpha-linoleic acid, 220 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA daily. In order to meet both the mother's and the child's need for omega-3 fatty acids, Minami Nutrition proposes a combination of MorEPA with Barleans Flax Oil during the first months of pregnancy. In the last six months of pregnancy and while breastfeeding, the mother should take MorDHA. The young child can take MorDHA-Mini between the ages of 1 and 5.
